The Top 5 Ways to Get Traffic Fast
Getting traffic is something that used to always confuse and frustrate me. When I first started trying to make money online, I was under the assumption that you just had to pound out content until the day that some of your pages got ranked high in the search engines. That’s a decent long-term strategy, but there are a lot of simple ways to drive traffic quickly without having to wait months or even years for the search engines to start sending you traffic.
Top 5 Quick Traffic Strategies
This is a list of my five favorite ways to drive traffic quickly. Most of these will bring results overnight, and most of them will give you long term results if you do them right.
1: Top 10 Lists + Social Bookmarking
This is a dandy. When I create a new sniper blog type site, I will write up a top ten or top twenty list about that niche, and then submit it to the major social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Reddit, and Delicious. A top 10 list would be something like, ” The Top 10 Awesome Foods You Can Still Eat on a Diet.” I’ve hit the main page several times and instantly got hundreds to thousands of new visitors. If you spend some time and write up something really good, it will keep getting passed around the web and will keep sending you traffic.
2. Forum Posting
There are forums for almost any topic you can think of, and you can generate a good amount of traffic by simply becoming part of the community. You can usually put a link to your site in your signature, or make your name clickable and link back to your site. This is a great way to get backlinks, as well as traffic. Just make sure that you make real comments that contribute to the conversation… don’t ever plug your site within the comments you leave.
3. Article Marketing
To most people, the idea of sitting and hammering out articles seems like drudgery. For me… article marketing was what finally made the difference between getting a few sales and getting consistent results. For every new micro blog I create, I write at least 10 GOOD articles and then submit them to ezinearticles, article base, and goarticles. I’ve actually been using Article Marketing Robot lately, which is awesome, but if you’re new at article marketing, I would suggest that you at least write a few articles from scratch first to get the feel for it. If you’re “not a good writer”, plow through writing an article a few times and you’ll get the hang of it. Article writing is easy once you just do it a few times. This is one of those activities that can bring you immediate traffic, as well as long term results.
4. Blog Commenting + Google Reader
This is a great strategy, but it takes a little planning. What I mean by planning, is that the sooner you can post a comment when a new blog post is published, the more results you’ll get from this. This is obviously because the higher up on the page your comment is, the more people will see it. Here’s what you do: choose 3-5 blogs in your niche that get a lot of traffic. Then, subscribe to their RSS feed with Google Reader, and give these blogs their own category within Reader. Now, every time that an article is published, you’ll be notified, and you can hurry and read the post and make a great, relevant comment.
5. Squidoo Lenses
If you’ve read anything about internet marketing, you’ve no doubt heard of Squidoo Lenses. There’s so much buzz about Squidoo because it works. Lenses are pretty simple to set up, and like anything else, once you set up a few, it gets very easy and fast to do. What I always do is take one or two of the articles I’ve written for a new niche, and keep them open in another window while I hammer out a new Lense. It’s easy, and if you do quality work, you’ll get great results from it.
Those are my favorite 5 ways to get traffic quickly to a new site. Your site obviously doesn’t have to be new for you to benefit from these tips however.

Good, solid info on building traffic. Also might note to stay away from link farms. They can actually kill your ranking by “link spamming”.
